I thoroughly enjoyed my 10 years at the North Carolina State Fair (2007-2016). I met so many folks there – families who would make me “their first stop” each year when they came thru the gates. I had children making me things each year, coming for a hug and pictures that made my day far more than I made theirs.
Having people drive from many miles away – Billy Parrish from s/w Miss. Paulette Pippin from Miss. Serena Rogers from s/w Tenn. , Don Thompson and his family from Connecticut and all the others that came from 35 states to see me. I had 4 folks fly from California, a paleontologist from Utah … it was just so over whelming. I really hated for it to end, but that last year I was there I got showed how unappreciated I had become and with all I went thru to provide that show – being unappreciated wasn’t gonna work.
